Brockville General Volunteer Association
The Brockville General Volunteer Association gives volunteers the means and ability to contribute by connecting their passion, strengths, and skills to healthcare needs which enhances support within the Brockville General Hospital community.
Dedicated volunteers support our patients and their friends and family in many different ways.
- Volunteers are the first people to greet visitors and patients at the main entrance. Volunteers can assist visitors on how to get to where they are going and which elevator to take.
- Volunteers provide a comforting presence for those in need, and a listening ear for those who seek to share.
- In Cardiac Rehab, volunteers monitor blood pressure and support patients during their recovery programs.
- In the Emergency Department, it’s the volunteers who ensure those in the waiting area are attended to and will comfort patients when they are waiting for assessment.
- Volunteers provide encouragement in physiotherapy, offer peer support to stroke patients, and ensure a safe departure for Day Surgery patients leaving the building.
- Volunteers run the cafe and book shop, with all the money going back into the hospital.
