Brockville General Volunteer Association collage of events and activities

The Brockville General Volunteer Association gives volunteers the means and ability to contribute by connecting their passion, strengths, and skills to healthcare needs which enhances support within the Brockville General Hospital community.

Dedicated volunteers support our patients and their friends and family in many different ways.

  • Volunteers are the first people to greet visitors and patients at the main entrance. Volunteers can assist visitors on how to get to where they are going and which elevator to take.
  • Volunteers provide a comforting presence for those in need, and a listening ear for those who seek to share.
  • In Cardiac Rehab, volunteers monitor blood pressure and support patients during their recovery programs.
  • In the Emergency Department, it’s the volunteers who ensure those in the waiting area are attended to and will comfort patients when they are waiting for assessment.
  • Volunteers provide encouragement in physiotherapy, offer peer support to stroke patients, and ensure a safe departure for Day Surgery patients leaving the building.
  • Volunteers run the cafe and book shop, with all the money going back into the hospital.

Volunteering is good for you.

Volunteering benefits your physical and mental health with important activities and increased social interaction. It’s an opportunity to learn new skills, help others and have fun. When you volunteer for health, you give time for yourself, the hospital and greater community.

See below all the ways volunteers contribute to the Brockville General Hospital.

If you are interested in learning more fill out the online volunteer application form and we’ll be in touch!

Becoming a volunteer

All Volunteer applications are being reviewed and acknowledged, however, we are not actively taking on new Volunteers at this time. If you are looking for an immediate volunteer opportunity, we encourage you to check out the needs of other great organizations in the region at the Volunteer Centre in Brockville

We accept volunteers based on the successful completion of the screening process and our ability to find a position that matches the skills and availability of the applicant. Completion of the application process does not guarantee placement at BGH.

Learn more about the steps to become a volunteer with us and then fill out our online volunteer application form.
