General Radiology (X-ray)
Brockville General Hospital offers general radiology or X-ray services for patients. All x-ray exams are done by appointment.
Your physician will send your x-ray requisition to the Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department and our DI Office staff will contact you to schedule your appointment.
The safety of our patients is our top priority, particularly during the era of the COVID-19 virus. See our visiting guidelines before coming for your appointment.
What is an X-ray?
An X-ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Imaging with X-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body.
Hours of operation
Our general radiology hours of operations are:
Monday to Sunday, 8:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. for outpatients
Location
We offer general radiology at our Charles Street main site. Check in at the registration desk.
Attending the X-ray exam
You must bring your health care card, your complete medical history, and the requisition with you. Due to government legislation, X-ray examinations cannot be performed without a signed requisition from an appropriate health care professional.
During your exam
You may be required to change into a hospital gown for your exam to ensure that no artifacts interfere with your diagnostic images. Please do not bring any valuables with you to the imaging department. If there is a chance that you might be pregnant, please tell the technologist before your exam.
After your exam
The results of your exam will be sent to the ordering physician. The technologists do not comment or provide any interpretation of the exams.
Wear comfortable clothing
We suggest that you wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
