Brockville General Hospital's Pharmacy is committed to patient care and advancement of safe, effective medication use. You should discuss any questions you have about your medications with your physician and/or pharmacist. Any decisions you make should be made with your healthcare provider.

The hospital Pharmacy team members are your medication experts who evaluate your medications to ensure they are safe, effective and needed. They work in close collaboration with other healthcare professionals in the hospital to provide you with optimal care that respects your preferences, needs, and values. The Pharmacy team provides education on your medication therapy that empowers you to be involved in your own care.

Tips on managing your pharmaceutical care

When taking care of yourself or a loved one, there 10 simple steps that you can take to ensure that you are getting the most out of your medicine and optimal care from your pharmacist:

  1. Stay with one pharmacist or one pharmacy
  2. Take all medications exactly as prescribed
  3. Talk to your pharmacist about your medication
  4. Ask for a list of your medications
  5. Get advice before you mix two or more prescription or non-prescription medicines or herbal products
  6. Make sure you feel comfortable taking your medicine
  7. Be sure that you have asked the necessary questions to understand all the information to take your medication properly
  8. Let your pharmacist know if you find it hard to remember to take your medications
  9. Make your pharmacist your most reliable source for information about medications
  10. Don't alter or stop taking your medicine
