Helping you get the right care at the right location

If you are experiencing an emergency or crisis, please go to the nearest Emergency Department, or call 9-1-1.

There are several options to access the right care in our community.

For a non-threatening concern, call your family doctor or primary care provider first

Your family doctor knows you best. They can offer diagnosis and treatment for common illnesses and injuries and provide referrals to healthcare specialists who can help with a specific condition.

  • Community and Primary Care
  • Leeds Grenville Family Health Team
  • Prescott Family Health Team
  • Upper Canada Family Health Team

If you do not have a primary health care provider call 1-800-445-1822 to register with Health Care Connect.

 Examples of when to visit
  • Runny nose
  • Sore throat
  • Painful urination
  • Rashes without fever
  • Ear pain
  • Eye redness, discharge, itchiness
  • Sprains and strains
  • Severe/chronic abdominal pain
  • Severe/chronic back pain
  • Fussy baby
  • Other chronic conditions

How pharmacies can help you

Pharmacists manage medication and provide health advice. They play an important role to keep you healthy.

 Examples of when to visit
  • Medication procurement/advice
  • As of January 2023, pharmacists in Ontario can prescribe medications for minor ailments.
  • COVID-19 testing
    • In-store lab-based testing, by appointment only
    • Self-collection lab-based kits, no appointment necessary.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations 
  • Influenza vaccinations

Brockville Clinical Assessment Centre

The Brockville Assessment Centre is located at 125 Stewart Boulevard, Unit #6, Brockville, Ontario. We are open to serve our community.

The Brockville Assessment Centre is available to anyone with respiratory illness symptoms, including COVID-19.

Though an innovative partnership of local health agencies, the Brockville Assessment Centre has always offered COVID-19 and medical assessment in addition to COVID-19 testing. 

For an appointment call 613-704-1441 or book online through the booking portal.

Regular hours of operations,

  • Monday - Friday: 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Weekends: 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Who should visit the Brockville Clinical Assessment Centre?

You should book a clinical assessment if you know or suspect that you have COVID-19 and you:

  • have been directed by your primary care provider or other health care professional; or
  • are unable to safely monitor your symptoms at home; or
  • are at higher risk of severe illness, including:
    • immunocompromised individuals aged 18 and over regardless of vaccine status.
    • unvaccinated individuals aged 60 and over.
    • unvaccinated First Nation, Inuit and Métis individuals aged 50 and over.
    • unvaccinated individuals aged 50 and over with one or more risk factors.

You should bring a list of your medication and a list of any important medical conditions to your appointment for a clinical assessment.

If you have one or more of the following symptoms, you should immediately call 911 or go to the emergency department:

  • Severe difficulty breathing (struggling for each breath, can only speak in single words)
  • Severe chest pain (constant tightness or crushing sensation)
  • Feeling confused or unsure of where you are
  • Losing consciousness
How to access care?

If you are known or suspected to have COVID-19, have worsening symptoms or have been advised by a healthcare professional to seek assessment, you can:

  • Online booking at www.brockvillegeneralhospital.ca/BookAssessment
  • Call 613-704-1441
  • Walk in
  • If you come to our Emergency Department with non-urgent care needs, you may be redirected to the Brockville COVID-19 Clinical Assessment Centre

To cancel an appointment that was booked online using the online portal or via phone, please call the booking line during regular hours at 613-704-1441 and press 2. You can also open your appointment confirmation email and click cancel or reschedule this appointment button.

What to expect during my visit?

You will be assessed by an appropriate health professional (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, registered nurse, registered practical nurse). The assessment may include oxygen saturation, vital signs, and identifying relevant risk factors/comorbidities.

You may be tested, if appropriate, and following the provincial testing guidance.

You will be diagnosed by a physician or nurse practitioner.

COVID-19 testing eligibility

The Ministry of Health has updated PCR testing eligibility to the following groups:

  • Symptomatic people who fall into one of the following groups:
    • Hospitalized patients
    • Patients in Emergency Departments, at the discretion of the treating clinician
    • Patient-facing health care workers
    • Staff, residents, essential care providers, and visitors in hospitals and congregate living settings, including long-term care, retirement homes, First Nation elder care lodges, group homes, shelters, hospices, temporary foreign worker settings, and correctional institutions
    • Outpatients for whom COVID-19 treatment is being considered
    • Under-housed or homeless
  • People who are from First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities and individuals travelling into these communities for work
  • Symptomatic elementary and secondary students and education staff who have received a PCR self-collection kit through their school
  • People on admission/transfer to or from hospital or congregate living setting
  • High-risk contacts and asymptomatic/symptomatic people in the context of confirmed or suspected outbreaks in high-risk settings, including hospitals, long-term care, retirement homes, other congregate living settings and institutions, and other settings as directed by the local public health unit
  • Individuals, and one accompanying caregiver, with written prior approval for out-of-country medical services from the General Manager, OHIP
  • Asymptomatic testing in hospital, long-term care, retirement homes and other congregate living settings and Institutions as per provincial guidance and/or Directives

Mental Health and/or Addictions Concerns

If you have concerns about a loved one's mental status and you think they may need immediate police or medical assistance, please call our 24/7 Crisis line at 613-345-4600 or 1-866-281-2911. You may also come directly to our Emergency Department or call 9-1-1.

If you are having non-urgent concerns, please speak with your family doctor or primary care provider.

For adults, aged 16+, you may also contact Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health.

For children and youth, under 16, contact Children's Mental Health Services of Leeds Grenville.

Emergency Department

Always seek emergency care when life or limb are at risk, or for a mental health crisis. Go to the nearest Emergency Department or call 9-1-1.

 Examples of when to visit
  • Chest pain or difficulty breathing
  • Weakness/numbness on one side
  • Slurred speech
  • Fainting/change in mental state
  • Serious burns
  • Head or eye injury
  • Concussion/confusion
  • Broken bones and dislocated joints
  • Fever with a rash
  • Seizures
  • Cuts that may require stitches
  • Facial lacerations
  • Severe cold or flu symptoms
  • Vaginal bleeding with pregnancy
  • Mental health crisis
  • Our Emergency Department does not offer COVID-19 tests.
  • We're here for you. Our healthcare providers are ready for any critical situation, 24/7.
