Accreditation
Health care accreditation is an ongoing process of assessing health care organizations against standards of excellence to identify what is being done well and what needs improving.
Brockville General Hospital (BGH) is committed to achieving as close to a 100 percent accreditation compliance rating as possible with every on-site accreditation review. Our participation in the voluntary accreditation process shows this commitment to delivering excellent quality patient care and a safe, efficient and nurturing care environment.
2015 Accreditation Canada review
During Accreditation Canada's most recent on-site review in 2015, BGH achieved a 96.4 percent compliance rating. We achieved compliance in 2,246 criteria when assessed against 2,331 standards, earning accredited status.
This was an improvement from the previous 2011 on-site review, when BGH earned a 95 percent compliance rating, using 400 fewer criteria than 2015's review.
Strengths
Accreditation Canada's report highlighted a number of strengths that BGH is achieving, including:
- A 66 percent improvement in non-compliant required organizational practices (ROPs). Five were unmet in 2015 compared to 15 in 2011.
- Patient-focused approach to health care through its Patient Safety Plan and Falls Prevention Program.
- Innovation in the Palliative Care team.
- Overall caring and engaged team composed of staff, physicians, senior leadership and volunteers.
