Policies
Brockville General Hospital's patient and visitor policies ensure that we maintain a safe and comfortable environment for everyone.
Electronic devices
Visitors and patients may not use wireless communication devices in critical care areas or within one metre of medical monitoring/controlling devices. You may use electronic or wireless devices in non-critical care areas like lobbies, main entrances, waiting areas and most nursing units. Please check with staff before using an electronic device.
Perfume and latex allergies
For the safety of patients and staff, do not use perfumes, colognes or other perfumed products inside or when entering the hospital. Do not bring latex balloons because they can cause allergic reactions. They are not allowed in the hospital. Mylar balloons are acceptable as they are non-allergenic.
Security
We restrict access to the hospital after visiting hours to ensure the safety of patients, staff and volunteers. Measures are in place to keep everyone safe. We require all staff and volunteers to wear name tags. If you are unsure or concerned about someone who enters your room or the nursing unit, alert staff immediately.
Have a security concern?
If you have a security concerns, please call 613-345-5649 ext. 52001. You can also visit the security office at the main entrance of our Charles Street Site any time.

BGH offers a number of smoking cessation supports in place for patients, including nicotine replacement therapy. If you know of a patient who would like support to quit smoking, please speak with a member of their health-care team.
