Meet the Senior Leadership Team

Nicholas Vlacholias

Nicholas Vlacholias, President and Chief Executive Office

Nicholas (Nick) Vlacholias joined Brockville General Hospital as President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2017. Nick has more than 25 years of experience transforming and integrating health care organizations into high-performing centres. Previously, he served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario leading a team comprised of clinical departments and corporate services and as Chief Operating Officer at the Cornwall Community Hospital. 

Nick is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA) and graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration. As active healthcare leader, Nick sits as Co-Chair of the Lanark, Leeds, Grenville Ontario Health Team’s Collaboration Council, as well as the Lumeo CEO Lead for our regional health information system project, Lumeo (Oracle-Cerner).

Under his leadership, Brockville General has become a strong regional partner and leader in healthcare transformation.  Nick is dedicated to working with partners to improve services and strives to look for innovative solutions to deliver healthcare to the community. 

Dr. Barry Guppy

Dr. Barry Guppy joined Brockville General in June 2023 as Chief of Staff and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee. With a distinguished career as a physician executive, Dr. Guppy has demonstrated exceptional leadership and a deep understanding of Ontario's health system.

Dr. Guppy has held various executive positions, including President and CEO of Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital, Vice-President Clinical and Interim CEO of the Central East Local Health Integration Network, Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs at Lakeridge Health, and Chief of Staff at Quinte Health. Prior to joining Brockville General, he served in health portfolios within the Government of Canada, highlighting his commitment to advancing healthcare at a national level.

Dr. Guppy's formal training in neurology further enriches his medical expertise. With a keen understanding of the unique challenges faced by medium-sized hospitals, he is dedicated to driving modernization and growth to meet the evolving needs of the community.

As Chief of Staff, he currently is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee, Board of Directors, Resources Committee, Operating Room Executive Committee, Ethics Committee, Quality and Safety Committee and Quality of Care. Dr. Guppy is also our Physician Lead for our regional health information system project, Lumeo (Oracle-Cerner).

Julie Caffin

Julie Caffin, Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive and Chief Operating Officer

Julie joined Brockville General Hospital in 2017 and serves as Senior Vice President Chief Nurse Executive and Chief Operating Officer. Previous positions have included frontline and leadership positions in both community and tertiary, academic health care organizations.

Julie has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Carleton University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Honours Degree from York University and a Master of Health Sciences Degree from the University of Toronto. She is certified in Advanced System Leadership from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management Executive Program and is a Fellow in The Ivy Academy Community Shift Executive Leadership Program. Julie has successfully completed the Advanced Good Governance certification through The College Centre of Board Excellence. She is an active member of the College of Nurses of Ontario and has an Adjunct Academic appointment in the Queen's University School of Nursing.

Julie has received recognition awards from Kingston Health Sciences Centre including the Team Award for Leadership with the Emergency Department Information System Implementation project and Team Award for Care for her efforts introducing the Inter-professional Collaborative Practice Model. She was nominated to the Canadian College of Health Leaders for a National Nursing Leadership Award.

As an active member of the senior leadership team, Julie currently sits as Chair of the Patient & Family Advisory Council, as well as Co-Chair of the Ethics Committee and Brockville General's Lumeo Steering Committee.  In the capacity of an Executive Officer, Julie is a member of the Board of Directors, Resources Committee, Medical Advisory Committee, and the Quality and Safety Committee. Other appointments include the Nursing Practice Council Executive, Ontario Nurses Association Labour Management, Operations Committees and the Operating Room Executive.

Julie was appointed to the St. Lawrence College Board of Governors in September 2018 and currently serves as Vice-Chair.  She is also a member of the Board of Directors at St. Vincent de Paul in Kingston. Other appointments include Ontario Critical Care Command Center, Ontario Critical Care Workforce Advisory Committee, South East Working Group, Queens University School of Nursing Advisory Council, Regional Stroke Steering Committee, and the Ontario East Surgical Working Group.

Cameron McLennan

Cameron McLennan, Vice President People and Support Services

Cameron has served Brockville General Hospital's Human Resources team since 2007 and as Vice President People and Support Services since 2013. His portfolio also includes Central Scheduling, Payroll, Occupational Health and Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Services, Facilities and Maintenance, Security, and Volunteer Services. He is also our lead for our shared services with Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health, and Compass Group Canada.

He holds a Bachelor of Administration from Lakehead University, Business Administration diplomas in Human Resources and Accounting from St. Lawrence College, Queens Executive Certificate in Labour Relations from Queen's University, is a Certified Human Resources Leader through the Human Resources Professional Association and has completed the Advanced System Leadership Program from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management Executive Programs.

Cameron is a past member of the Ontario Hospital Association's (OHA) Benefit Plans Advisory Committee (BPAC). BPAC is a committee of the OHA and acts in an advisory role in relation to the governance and management of provincial wide OHA benefit plans. Cameron is a past member on the Shared Support Services Southeastern Ontario Board, which oversees shared support services (supply chain) to hospitals within the former South East Local Health Integration Network. He has participated in province-wide OHA central negotiations and chaired a regional advisory group tasked with analyzing the labour relations impact of system integration.

Lindsay Wyers

Lindsay Wyers, Vice President, Digital Health and Chief Information Officer

Lindsay joined Brockville General Hospital in 2022 and serves as Vice President, Digital Health and Chief Information Officer. In this role, Lindsay’s portfolio includes the management of health records, data analysis and metrics, privacy, and information management and information technology. She sits as Chair of the Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health Team’s Digital Health Committee and is a valuable addition to our regional health information system project, Lumeo (Oracle-Cerner). She is also co-chair of the Brockville General’s Lumeo Steering committee.

Before joining Brockville General, Lindsay served as Director of Information Technology, Decision Support, Health Information and Privacy for Peterborough Regional Health Centre. She has also held roles within the Central East Local Health Integration Network, and Cancer Care Ontario. In her volunteer experience, Lindsay is a past President of the Durham Rape Crisis Centre, a position she held for ten years.

Lindsay has an undergraduate degree in Medical Anthropology and Health Studies from the University of Toronto and a Master’s in Health Sciences. She is a Certified Health Information Management Professional and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Quantic School of Business and Technology and is certified in Executive Leadership from the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management.

Patty Dimopoulos

Patty Dimopoulos, Manager, Strategy and Performance, Quality & Risk

Patty joined Brockville General Hospital in 2013 and is the Manager of Strategy and Performance. She is a graduate of St. Lawrence College, Business Administration Program (with distinction) and a Project Management Professional with over 12 years administrative experience in the not-for-profit and public sectors. Her role includes responsibility for strategic planning, organizational performance, corporate governance advisor, quality improvement and risk management, and the hospital’s project management office. 

Following Brockville General’s appointment of a Provincial Supervisor in 2016, Patty played an integral role in modernizing the Hospitals’ governance structure. This included complete revisions of the Corporation’s by-laws and policies, developing best practice governance processes. In 2018-2019, Patty led the Hospital through the development of their new multi-year strategic plan. She is currently the lead for the Operational Readiness component of the Hospital’s Redevelopment Project (2020).

In 2017, Patty presented at the Ontario Hospital Association's Governance Centre of Excellence Conference for Corporate Secretaries, speaking about Brockville General's Board in Transition. Patty was also a contributing member of Governance Professionals who contributed to the development of Elevating the Onboarding Experience, a Governance Professionals’ Guide, Ontario Hospital Association 2018.

In 2019, Patty was nominated for Team Member of the Year award for her commitment to patient care and living the Hospital’s vision and values.  She has served on several community Boards and is currently the Secretary/Treasurer for the Hellenic Community of Brockville.
