The Mental Health Crisis Service provides first line response in addressing mental health crisis situations in Leeds and Grenville. Our services are confidential for individuals 16 years of age and over.
The goal is timely assessment, stabilization and referral to appropriate resources. The Mental Health Crisis Team (MHCT) is staffed by nurses and social workers with access to a multidisciplinary team.
Crisis team
Crisis workers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our services
- Screening, assessment, consultation, suicide intervention, crisis support, short term follow up and referral to other resources as required
- Collaborating with the Emergency Department offering consultation to support and expedite the care of individuals presenting in mental health distress
- Mobile community response coordinated with police, family physicians and other professional agencies
- Partnering with police on weekly ride along for early intervention and prevention of mental health crisis
- Facilitating community mental health awareness and education
Concurrent Disorders Stabilization Unit
The Concurrent Disorders Stabilization Unit (CDSU) is an inpatient program within the Inpatient Mental Health and Addictions unit.
The CDSU is a short-term program (2 weeks) which includes the following:
- Medical management of withdrawal from substances, as needed.
- Psychiatric and medical assessment and treatment, as needed.
- Therapeutic programming related to mental health and substance use disorders.
Individuals can self-refer by completing the referral form.
Outpatient programs
Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is a client-centred, recovery-oriented mental health service delivery model that helps facilitate community living, psychosocial rehabilitation and recovery for those facing severe mental illnesses or have severe symptoms or impairments.
You can also find the Outpatient Program, made up of a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and social workers.
All of BGH's mental health programs provide specialized psychiatric consultation and follow-up to patients 16-and-older experiencing mental illness.

Children's mental health
Children's Mental Health of Leeds Grenville provides mental health services to children and youth in our community. They have five community offices, located in Brockville, Elgin, Gananoque, Kemptville and Prescott. Hours of operations are Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These programs and services are free, accessible, and confidential.
In the event of an emergency, please call 9-1-1 or present to the nearest Emergency Department.
