Accessibility
We are committed to making Brockville General barrier-free for patients and their family members, staff, health care practitioners, volunteers and community members.
Building accessibility
Brockville General is committed to providing accessible facilities, services, information and support in accordance with Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR).
Accessible documentation
As an accessible organization, our hospital can arrange for accessible formats and communication supports for any documentation to support patients and families with their care. Please speak with your healthcare team to make a request.
Language interpreters
Interpretation and translation services are available upon request to support patients, family members, staff, physicians, learners, volunteers and other affiliates. Please speak with your healthcare team or department if you require this service.
Service animals and support persons
We welcome people with disabilities who are accompanied by a service animal or support person.
Service animals are permitted in public areas unless restricted by clinical, infection prevention and control, or other legal requirements. Where access is restricted, we will work with the individual to identify alternative supports.
Support persons are welcome and consent will be obtained before discussing personal health information in accordance with privacy requirements. If your support person needs access to areas not normally open to the public, we will assess this on an individual basis.
Accessibility commitment
We commit to:
- The continual improvement of access to facilities, policies, programs, practices, and services for all our guests and team members.
- The participation of people with disabilities in the development and review of our annual accessibility plans.
- Ensuring hospital bylaws and policies are consistent with the principles of accessibility.
- Supporting accessibility, inclusion, diversity and equity through the Accessibility, Inclusion, Diversity and Equity (AIDE) committee.
Accessibility Plans, Reports, Compliance Documents
Brockville General’s Multi-Year Accessibility Plan outlines the steps we are taking to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to our facilities, services, information, and employment practices.
