Julie’s Community Updates: July 17, 2026

As part of our commitment to keeping our community informed, Julie Caffin, President and CEO, provides updates on the latest news from Brockville General.

Environment Canada has issued Special Air Quality Statements for our region as a result of smoke from wildfires in Northern Ontario. I’d like to remind our community that air pollution can have health effects including increased coughing, throat irritation, headaches, and shortness of breath. If you are experiencing these symptoms, please limit or reschedule any outdoor activity until conditions improve.

More information about air quality is available on the Southeast Public Health Unit’s website: Air Quality - Southeast Public Health

On July 16, Steve Clark announced Brockville General is receiving $705,327 in Health Infrastructure Renewal Funding or HIRF. We are grateful to the Provincial Government's investment in improving our aging infrastructures. This funding enables us to complete essential repairs and upgrades including replacing our aging roofing and flooring and modernizing visitor elevators. Thank you to MPP Clark for his continued support of our hospital.
