Julie’s Community Updates: May 25, 2026

As part of our commitment to keeping our community informed, Julie Caffin, President and CEO, provides updates on the latest news from Brockville General.

  • This week, Brockville General welcomes Accreditation Canada surveyors as part of our ongoing commitment to continually enhance the care we provide. Accreditation is the process of assessing health care organizations against standards of excellence to identify what is being done well and where there is opportunity for improvement. This is an opportunity for us to showcase the work being done while learning from the experience of our surveyors.

  • On May 25, a crane will be onsite at our hospital as part of ongoing repairs being done on our roof. To accommodate the crane, part of the sidewalk along Ormond Street will be closed to pedestrians.

  • The Brockville & District Hospital Foundation is holding the annual Ride the River fundraiser on May 31. This year’s event offers more ways than ever to take part, with new route options designed to welcome riders, walkers, families, and teams of all experience levels—including flexible participate‑your‑way options. Every dollar raised will advance stroke and cardiac care at Brockville General. For more information, including how to register, visit https://bdhf.my.site.com/RTR/

  • Starting today, OPSEU staff at Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Addictions and Mental Health, located at 25 Front Avenue West, are on strike. As a result, striking staff will be picketing in front of the entrance to the building’s parking lot. Brockville General’s staff are not part of the strike and the outpatient mental health services we offer at 25 Front Avenue West will continue. The union has assured us that no patient or staff member will be stopped from entering the building. However, any patients attending an appointment at 25 Front Avenue should expect delays and plan accordingly.
