Julie’s Community Updates: May 4, 2026
As part of our commitment to keeping our community informed, Julie Caffin, President and CEO, provides updates on the latest news from Brockville General.
- We are pleased that Brockville Council has approved funding to continue our partnership for our Imagine Brockville Life recruitment campaign. We look forward to working with the City as we continue to recruit skilled healthcare workers to our community.
- Congratulations to Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville Ontario Health team on the recent announcement of funding to support primary care expansion for our area. This funding is an important investment in our community. By expanding team-based primary care and improving patient attachment, we’re addressing health inequities, reducing pressure on hospital services, and setting the foundation for a more integrated health care system across our region. This success reflects strong partnerships, shared planning, and a data‑driven approach to improving health equity and outcomes. Brockville General Hospital is proud to collaborate in this work and fully supports its implementation.
- On May 1, we recognized our dedicated physicians as part of National Physicians’ Day. We celebrate the dedicated physicians who provide compassionate, high-quality care to our patients every day. Thank you for all that you do, we are grateful for all our physicians.
- This week is National Hospice Palliative Care Week. At Brockville General our Palliative Care Consult Team provides assessment, counseling, and consultations on pain management to our patients, both in the hospital and in the community. Thank you to our dedicated team.
- This week is also Emergency Preparedness and Health and Safety Week. Our Emergency Preparedness team play a vital role in preparing our hospital for emergencies. We are taking this week to remind our healthcare workers and community members how we can prepare for when disaster strikes. Having a kit of food, water, and other supplies that can last 72 hours ensures you and your loved ones are ready should an emergency happen. Learn more about how you can prepare for an emergency by visiting www.BrockvilleGeneralHospital.ca/EmergencyPreparedness
- May 10 is Mother’s Day. Many of the dedicated women who make our hospital exceptional are mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and caregivers — each deeply valued by someone in their life. They serve our community with compassion and excellence as nurses, physicians, support staff, leaders, and more. At Brockville General, so many mothers balance the demands of their profession with the responsibilities of family, giving their time, energy, and care both at work and at home.
To all moms and mother figures at Brockville General and throughout the Leeds Grenville community, we wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day.
