Julie’s Community Updates: November 6, 2026
Next week, I will be joining Trish Buote, Executive Director of the Brockville and District Hospital Foundation, at the City of Brockville's Remembrance Day Ceremony. Together, we will lay a wreath on behalf of Brockville General and the Foundation in honour of those who have served our country. Remembrance Day provides an opportunity to pause, remember, and reflect on the sacrifices made by generations of Canadians in service to our country.
Recently, our hospital has experienced high occupancy levels, meaning we cared for more patients than we have available inpatient beds. I want to thank our staff, physicians, volunteers, and learners for their dedication and teamwork during these busy periods. Their commitment helps ensure patients continue to receive safe, compassionate care when they need it most.
With the time change now behind us and the days becoming shorter, it's also a good reminder to take care of our physical and mental well-being. Taking time to get outside during daylight hours, stay active, and stay connected with family, friends, and colleagues can make a meaningful difference as we move into the fall and winter months.
From November 8-14, we are recognizing Nurse Practitioner Week and Medical Radiation Technologist Week. These healthcare professionals play important roles in supporting patient care across our hospital. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses with advanced education and clinical training who assess patients, diagnose illnesses, order and interpret tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. Medical Radiation Technologists are highly trained professionals who use advanced imaging and radiation technology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Finally, a reminder that on Wednesday, November 11, outpatient clinics, outpatient laboratory services, day surgery, and community programs will be closed in observance of Remembrance Day. Emergency and inpatient services will remain open.
