Julie’s Community Updates: October 9, 2026

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what we are grateful for. As I reflect, there is a lot to be grateful for. Among that list are the incredible people who make up our hospital teams and our community. Every day, I witness acts of compassion, dedication, and teamwork that remind me why our work matters.

In this week’s Community Update, I'm pleased to share some highlights, celebrations, and important news from across our organization.

  • October 11-17 is Medical Device Reprocessing Week. Medical Device Reprocessing or MDRD professionals play an essential role in patient safety by cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and preparing the medical instruments used every day in surgeries and procedures across our hospital. Their vital work helps ensure our teams have the instruments and supplies that contribute to patient and staff safety.

  • Recently, Dr Greg Manning, Chief of Staff, and I had the chance to sit down with Doreen Barnes of YourTV Brockville to provide an update on our hospital, including our progress on recruiting more doctors and our future vision for our Pearl Street Site. You can watch the full interview on YourTV Brockville’s YouTube channel.

  • With Thanksgiving this weekend, I wanted to remind our community our outpatient clinics, outpatient lab services, day surgeries, and community programs will be closed for the holiday. Emergency and inpatient services remain open.  We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday!
