Julie’s Community Updates: September 11, 2026

As part of our commitment to keeping our community informed, Julie Caffin, President and CEO, provides updates on the latest news from Brockville General.

  • As we approach the midway point of September, the days are notably shorter and, for many, we are settling into new routines. At Brockville General we have been experiencing a higher-than-normal occupancy rate throughout all of our inpatient units hitting a high of 177% last week. This means there were about 39 more patients admitted than we had beds for. Our incredible teams worked hard to find new spaces to care for patients so that we could continue to provide services in our Emergency Department. By the end of last week, we were starting to see occupancy rates decline. Thank you to everyone for your patience as we worked through this surge in activity.

  • Next week, we recognize some of the many people who make our hospital great:
    • September 15 is National IT Professionals’ Day. Thank you to our dedicated Information Technology and Clinical Informatics teams, our hospital’s digital infrastructure runs smoothly behind the scenes, supporting the critical technology which supports patient care.
    • September 14 to 20 is National Payroll Week. We recognize our Payroll professionals. This small but mighty team helps to ensure our staff are paid accurately and on time. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, their impact is felt throughout the organization.
    • September 14 to 20 is Environmental Services Week. This is a week to also recognize the professionals whose efforts help support patient safety and infection prevention across our hospital. From preparing patient rooms to maintaining shared spaces, our Environmental Services team plays an essential role in delivering clean, safe, high-quality care.
