Rehabilitation

Patient Care Banner

Our healthcare teams provide expert rehabilitation services and instruction to help you recover and heal from all types of illnesses and injuries. We provide the tools you need to recover.

The length of time you spend with our rehabilitation program will depend on your unique health needs. If you are staying with us, our goal is to get you home quickly and instruct you on your next steps towards rehabilitation.

Surgery rehabilitation

When preparing for surgery, we may ask you to attend a pre-operative admission clinic for information and instructions. During this visit, we'll take you through important information about your recovery and rehabilitation. If you have any surgery rehabilitation questions, please ask a member of your healthcare team.

Total joint replacements

If you are scheduled for total joint replacements, you will need to attend an educational physiotherapy class where you will learn more information about rehabilitation exercises.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The Cardiac Rehabilitiation Program (formerly Brockville Cardiac Program, or BCP) provides rehabilitation services for patients recovering from cardiac surgery, cardiac angioplasty or stenting.

Location

You can find the BCP at the Charles Street main site. We offer 6 and 12 week programs that consist of exercise, education and counselling to help with your post-operative journey to recovery. You can participate in these programs at the hospital or at home. We will provide you with an individualized plan for your recovery.

Expertise

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program can:

  • Improve your quality of life
  • Increase your activity level
  • Improve your cardiovascular fitness and your heart's functional capacity
  • Help you to reduce your risk factors
  • Give you more control over your own health
  • Increase your options for living independently

You have the full support of a multi-professional team, including:

  • Physicians
  • Kinesiologists
  • Dieticians
  • Nurses
  • Respiratory therapists
  • Pharmacists

Our program averages more than 120 graduates per year, with about 50 participants involved at any given time. We take up to 8 new patients per week.
